Europaskolans Anti-discrimination Policy
The council as of 9/24/2002 ratified the anti-discrimination policy.
Equal rights between women and men are characterized as women and men having the same rights, obligations, and opportunities within all essential areas of life. Equality has both a quantitative and qualitative aspect. A quantitative basis means that equality is an even distribution between women and men in all areas of society, in the variety of education levels, jobs, authoritative positions, and recreational activities, for example. A qualitative basis means that equality is ensured for both women’s and men’s knowledge, experience and values and is allowed to influence and enrich development in all areas of society.
The school’s curriculum, Lpo-94, states the following: “The school shall actively and consciously support equal rights of women and men and their opportunities. Through these means, girls and boys both acknowledge and are acknowledged in school, and the demands and expectations placed on them work to form their understanding of what is female and male. The school has a responsibility to resist traditional gender roles. Therefore, there will be room for students to prove and develop their capacity and interests free from any underlying gender gaps.”
As an educational enrichment organization, the school will allow ample room for both female and male perspectives of learning and knowledge. Increasing equality is one of the conditions for democracy and justice. A leveling of the division between men and women at all levels and areas in school, as well as in decision-making bodies, supports a creative working environment. Europaskolans anti-discrimination work is to permeate the school’s core program, education. It applies to both students and staff.
Europaskolans long-term goals:
- To have equal distribution of women and men within different positions, including decision/advisory boards.
- Salary structures without gender-related differences.
- Female and male knowledge, experience and values are encouraged and are allowed to affect development within the school.
- That gender-related discrimination or harassment never occurs, whether amongst students or teachers.
