Europaskolan at a Glance

Founding of Europaskolan

Europaskolan was established as an educational foundation, Docendo Discimus, in 1998. The foundation aspired to create an internationally-minded school with high academic standards at its core. The school, which is sanctioned and supervised by the Swedish Department of Education, has no religious or political affiliations.

Two Campuses, one school

Both the Vasastan and Södermalm campuses offer the comfort and attention of a small school setting while providing the resources and support one would expect of a much larger academic community. The Vasastan campus accommodates 150 students from kindergarten until fifth grade, while the Södermalm campus maintains classes from kindergarten to ninth grade and a student body of 250. This personal atmosphere promises a secure environment for children to grow and thrive both academically and socially. The teachers and administration work closely with families to provide prompt and attentive care for the children. Based on the IBO curriculum, character building is an intrinsic part of the school curriculum at all levels and consequently provides clear expectations for conduct by students. There is a no tolerance policy at school for bullying, harassment or teasing.

Learning

ES offers an accelerated instructional level in both language and mathematics. Extensive English instruction beginning in kindergarten creates a learning environment where students become highly proficient in English. This makes it possible to complete higher education abroad or within an English program in Sweden.

Stockholm as a “classroom”

The proximity of Stockholm’s cultural landmarks is a natural resource for the ES community. Students visit many sites in and around Stockholm to facilitate their learning. From their first days at ES students visit age-appropriate sites connected to their learning to solidify the learning which is happening in the classroom. Outdoor education, in addition to art, music, and theater are intrinsic parts of the educational program for all ES students.

Faculty and Staff Instruction at ES is given by certified teachers who are not only qualified, but have a breadth of experience both nationally and internationally to share with the students. The qualifications and dedication of the teaching staff provide an environment where children can develop their skills and natural abilities to their fullest potential. As a school, we maintain high expectations for faculty and staff as well as for students and their families.

Only together may we achieve success!
